ActewAGL explores The Journey

By johnboy - 25 January 2011 11

ActewAGL have posted video of the sculpture which dominates the foyer of their new Civic headquarters.

They had this to say:

‘The Journey’, consists of 37 major sculptural forms emerging from the polished concrete floor to become sinuous light-filled shapes named “Ossolites”.

‘The Journey’ is located in the foyer of the ActewAGL Building, 40 Bunda Street, Canberra.

‘The Journey’ was created by Robert Foster of Fink and Co. in collaboration with Frost Design and Coolon Lighting Pty Ltd. Photography by DMC Photographics.

I can’t believe people will complain about such things as the very low power usage of an LED. Get a life. It looks good and is a great addition to the recently revitalised Bunda St.

This is brilliant! There should definately be more of this sort of corporate sponsorship of the arts. Appart from the undeniable aesthetic appeal, it think it’s brilliant they way it gets all the pathetic twatbags panties in a knot!

The puffery and self inflated sense of entitlement is a cack!

I’m pretty certain they use very low wattage LEDs to produce those pretty glowing colours. The energy consumption would be remarkable low. Personally, I’m in favour of wanton consumption, especially wantons with tasty dipping sauce.

I walk past this a few times a day. All I see when I look at it is the wanton consumption of electricity. That electricity could be powering something productive, or at least powering something that maybe has some potential to be productive (this is Canberra after all). I also wonder about whether I should switch from ActewAGL to Country Energy if they’re going to waste my money on this tripe.
