It’s taken a week to report on it because it was such a roaring success, it took a week to recover.
The inaugural Amazing Canberra Race was held last weekend (17/02/2007) with outstanding results. The basic concept is the same as the Amazing race tv show, with a mixture of clues and challenges at each location. It’s also definately a race (for those who remember to run).
About a dozen teams competed across town and through the multicultural festival. Highlights included the initial race to the Old Canberra Inn (followed by the looks we got by the patrons), our unwelcome attempts at joining the Labor club, being the last team to get three successful strikes bowling, being the coolest team at pool, forgetting clues and just chasing other teams, PANTS being the fastest and most tyre-sliding vehicle in the pack, running through the multicultural festival frantically searching for the right tent and the warm welcome provided by staff and fellow racers at the Uni Pub (aka the finish line).
