The ACT Emergency Services Agency has announced the end of bushfire season tomorrow, following the weekend’s rain.
- “The official bushfire danger period will formally finish on Wednesday 15 April 2009,” Acting ESA Commissioner David Foot said.
“The end of the season was extended by two weeks on 31 March 2009 due to continued hot and dry conditions in the ACT and a lack of recent rainfall,” he said.
“After consulting with the ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT Bushfire Council it has been decided to officially end the season tomorrow.”
The end of the official bushfire season will mean there is no longer a requirement to gain a permit to light a fire outdoors in the ACT.
