The ACT Virtual Community Cabinet, possibly the stupidest thing in the sorry history of humanity doing stupid things, is kicking off again from 12.30.

Be part of the signal to noise ratio below or by searching for #actvcc .

I mean what better use of an hour is watching people who could have used google get referred to websites by Cabinet Ministers?

UPDATE: The Chief Minister thinks there are plenty of stupider things:

Could this be the most inane use of MLAs time ever?

Not by a long shot. Exploring the uses of new technologies is always worthwhile. Even when an experiment proves a complete failure, that knowledge can be shared, preventing others making the same mistake. Heck, even the OP has IDed a problem for future efforts – the need to encourage people to websearch before wasting our MLAs time.

‘town hall meetings’ are mindnumbingly boring due to the boring rambles of incoherent idiots; corresponding with our pollies electronically has an immediate advantage that we can skim over that drivel, so it has a lot of potential for making local politics more bearable.

These trendy tweet-offs of whatever they are are all well and good, but I hope the politicians remember that they’re communicating with a very narrow portion of society. People who like to poke away at small beeping things.

As noted on this very site last week, the Government are addressing this issue by running Twitter classes at the libraries. They seem to have overlooked the fact that live community cabinets would allow most people to communicate with their existing skillset (i.e. their ability to talk).

The exchange between RiotACT and Katy Gallagher sums up exactly what I think Twitter has to offer the world. ‘You’re stupid.’ ‘No, you’re stupid.’

Next entries should logically be: ‘Well at least I don’t smell of fart.’ ‘You are a fart.’ Just awesome.

Not bad! And, you used apostrophes correctly, unlike the originals.

Wow, that was just amazing.

Achieved ………. NOTHING

KatyGMLA @SonjaBarfoed there is no chanrge for dropping off green waste at mugga and mitchell, other councils do charge #actvcc

Queanbeyan City Council doesn’t charge for drop off of green waste to the waste management centre, and provides green waste bins for collection every fortnight.

KatyGMLA @ACTVCC @mossrocket not at this stage #actvcc

not sure if that’s an answer to “will we ever see police walking the beat in Canberra?” or “Will you consider Medical Marijuana?”…

Be part of the signal to noise ratio

That’s was a brilliant geek joke….

lolz – funny – my questions on marijuana and police just appeared…

but weren’t answered…
Only questions that have answers already published in ACT Gov Media Releases seem to have been addressed in this ‘transapent’ attempt at Gov2.0…

My question got answered reasonably well with no referral to a website.

but they did edit my tweets – I added “= fail” to the end of my police question and it has been removed

lolz – funny – my questions on marijuana and police just appeared…

it seems there’s a fair bit of moderation going on if you tweet to @ACTVCC – my questions regarding Medical Marijuana cards and police presence on the streets of our suburbs (that aren’t speed cameras or attending car crashes) seemed to not appear…
though they did retweet this:
RT @mossrocket: @ACTVCC how many inane questions posted here could just be answered with a simple googling? #actvcc

Could this be the most inane use of MLAs time ever?

I asked Katy a question!

20 minutes in and not even trending…

happily Game of Foams is at least twice as popular as the ACTVCC right now!
