This was emailed into us from a Glenn:
We moved into a rental property last weekend, from interstate, and there were no bins.
At the first opportunity we alerted our landlords that we had no means of disposing of our waste or recyclables (Monday).
Our pickup day is Wednesday.
When Wednesday rolled around we called Urban Services directly, who kindly advised us that, had we chased down the driver, he would have taken our bagged waste, and they would nevertheless have bins delivered to us the next day.
Today is Friday.
We still don’t have bins.
We have a week’s worth of “moving in” waste and, if it were summer, this situation would literally stink.
Do we live in a modern city or not?
Why can I not be provided with the means to dispose of my rubbish and recycling?
I’m getting a little testy and a little smelly. And decidedly pissed off.
UPDATE: Glen has now sent in this update:
“Hello Urban Services. Thank you for the bins that wheel to the kerb. And also thank you for the amazing demounting and assembly performance from your employee.”
The lifting, assembling, balancing act was quite balletic, and the attitude of the fellow delivering the performance was friendly and professional. I had been warned that people have experienced delays of up to a month to get bins, so perhaps I should be thankful I got them within the week. I still don’t think it’s acceptable that we were without them in the first place.
