Another Carney Update

Ex-Canberra Raider, trouble maker, and the man forced to leave Goulburn, Todd Carney has made the papers again in the Brisbane Times, but this time only as part of the farewell to the Atherton Roosters after they went down in their Grand Final 30-18 against Cairns Brothers.

Todd says farewell to Atherton and the Barron Valley Hotel, the pub where his mum worked after moving north to keep him out of trouble. He’s set to go on a short holiday before taking up with the Sydney Roosters for next years NRL season.

Hopefully his mum will head south to keep him out of trouble next year as well.

A guy with his history on the grog flitting about the Eastern Suburbs of Sydney. I give him 6 months before he returns to form.

His window has gone. Campese took his mantle here and a year out of the NRL is a lifetime

I can’t remember if I have posted this here before, but the Daily Telegraph have a nice story of how he has kept out of trouble up north.

Then one humid day in April, lunch got a little easier for Henry Pritchard. A new kid working behind the bar noticed how the old timer struggled to feed himself. He asked Henry if he’d like some help. When Henry nodded, the new kid took the knife and cut up Henry’s steak.

Good luck to him back in the NRL – as long as he sits out when playing against the Raiders 🙂

why does Todd need mum to look after him – he’s an adult now isn’t he?

she’s probably a master of the wooden spoon

Saw Todd at the Cairns District Rugby League awards dinner up here on Friday night, happily he was behaving himself.

He didn’t win the gold medal for the best player in the competition but gave it a decent shot.
