Amina McConvell is having an exhibition of her work at the M16 art space in Fyshwick which you might well enjoy.

The precis of the exhibition explains it thusly:

‘Another world os possible’ looks at the possibility of a transition from one reality to another. The work engages with the ways in which human beings have historically constructed concepts of different realities, for example earthly and other worldly.

The central motif the compositions is the pointed archway, or portal. In architecture the portal or entrance to a spiritual structure like a temple or a tomb, as well as being a physical door way is also symbolic thresh hold between the outside world and the world of god. Once you cross the threshold you enter a spiritual reality and in some way are transfigured.

M16 can be found at 16 Mildura St Fyshwick.
