So this story is mostly about Harry Potter.

I figured I’d warn you guys right off the bat so those of you who dislike all that ridiculous stuff and nonsense can hit the back button on your browser right now.

Go on, you don’t need to know about this rubbish.

Ok now that those heartless, fun-hating, boring muggles have gone we can talk…

It appears the ANU Harry Potter Club held a Yule Ball this year which sounds like all sorts of fun and I am super jealous that I didn’t attend.

Next year I am so there with my costume and wand.

Also, ANU Harry Potter Club? Next time you run something like this please send us posters and info. I want to run all the stories about you guys.

This year’s Yule Ball, with the theme ‘A Winter’s Night in Hogsmeade’, took place in the Canberra Club on Saturday.

Guests to this year’s Ball were welcomed into the room with tables themed after different shops from the magical village of Hogsmeade.

Each table had an interactive display: the potions shop had various concoctions for the patrons to sample; Zonko’s, an array of jokes and tricks; and Madam Puddifoot’s Tea Shop had complimentary tea and chocolates.

The Harry Potter Club hosts a Yule Ball each year, which is always great fun for both Harry Potter fans and non-fans alike.

The Yule Ball originates from the fourth book in the Harry Potter series, The Goblet of Fire, when Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry hosts the Triwizard Tournament, and, as a result, the Yule Ball.

The ANU Harry Potter Club has subsequently included a ball every year since its inception in 2011.

This year’s theme meant many Christmas trees, fairy lights, extravagant table decorations and, of course, butterbeer available at the Hogshead Pub.
