Hi Rioters.
Went for a drive up Mount Stromlo over the weekend, thinking I would stop and have a coffee at Scope — but it appears to be closed.
Anyone know what happened there?

Put the container on wheels and light it up and you have a caravan.
Half of Canberra used to drool over a trendy, overpriced hamburger that was sold out of a grotty looking caravan in Kingston.
Whats the difference?

If any new operator has to run the kitchen from a shipping container I won’t be eating anything from that place. Not even if they give it away for free.
Thanks for the replies– must have missed the article in the CT about it!
I agree with Jivrashia, seems like the article gives a clear reason why it all came about, regardless of the Trip Advisor issues.
Seems a shame for such a lovely location not to have a cafe– does ANU have plans to reopen the space?

Putting Tripadvisor aside for the moment, I think this opinion says it all:
The location lacked a decent kitchen – a shipping container was being used at the moment and mice were getting in – and did not have enough security infrastructure. She said there had been five burglaries in a year.
I think that’s an objective and truthful assessment from a fairly reliable source that’ll beat Tripadvisor any day.
My Tripadvisor review of Scope was my honest opinion. The place was badly run, the food overpriced and the service laughable.
I walked in there once, looked at the over-priced menu, then made a quick exit.

Hahaha yup, exactly what that article says. I agree with the Trip Advisor comments. The place was rubbish.
