Anyone lost some bees?

Ben_Dover 29 January 2015 4

Saw this swarm making a nest at the pinnacle nature reserve yesterday, while out walking my dogs. Could it be a domestic swarm which has left the hive? Exact location available if they are yours, and you want them back!

Depending on if they are near footpaths / walking tracks that people use it may be worth relocating them, it’s a simple process for experienced swarm collectors. When swarms are relocated into hives they tend to establish themselves very rapidly.

This swarm will have scouts out looking for nesting sites at the moment, and will eventually move to a new site (if/when one is found).

If anyone is interested in the swarm scouting process, there is an excellent (and detailed) write up here:

Seeing as that lot are at the Pinnacle nature reserve, is it worth relocating them?
