Appeal for help after axe-wielding man robs Gungahlin business

Police are seeking the public’s assistance after an aggravated robbery at a Gungahlin business yesterday afternoon (2 August).

At about 4 pm a man briefly entered a massage business on Anthony Rolfe Avenue.

He left before returning 10 minutes later, armed with an axe and demanding money.

He smashed the counter with the axe and stole a handbag.

As he was running away, the offender was chased by a person from a neighbouring business, subsequently dropping the handbag after crossing Anthony Rolfe Avenue.

He kept a brown leather purse containing cash and cards and was last seen running towards Gungahlin Place.

The man was described as about 180 cm tall and was wearing a dark-coloured hoodie at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident, or who saw anyone acting suspiciously on Anthony Rolfe Avenue between Gungahlin Place and Tesselaar Street has been urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
