Ask RiotACT: Advice regarding advertising for new business

Ask RiotACT

Hi Everyone,

I am a new (6 month old) Occupational Therapy business and I have recently started a new service where I am creating life story books for older adults. My ‘Stories of You’ concept involves interviewing the older person and getting questionnaire information from their family and loved ones to fill in gaps and also provide special words and memories about their loved one in a message section at the end. Together with photos, I then create the story which is printed in a beautiful hardcover book.

I am posting today to get some advice on how you think  I should advertise my service to gain the most exposure or hit the appropriate market. I believe it would be aimed more so towards the children (40-60 years) of the older people, to purchase as a gift, rather than someone purchasing for themselves; but purchasing for themselves is also a possibility. I understand ‘to make money you have to spend money’ but I am also looking for the most cost effective options if possible to minimise overheads whilst I am not taking many bookings.

Thanks so much and looking forward to hearing your advice.

Sophie

Hi Sophie, have you tried Facebook advertising?
Otherwise you could consider pamphlet drops at aged care homes (subject to their approval)?

Hi George,
I have done some facebook advertising with ok results – I got a couple of enquiries from a 30 day post.

Flyer drops directly to the aged care homes are a good idea too. Thanks!
