Ask RiotACT

Hi Rioters.

Does anyone know who owns Fraser shops? I’ve noticed the news agency has closed again after the business was recently sold. When the business was sold a few months ago the tenant advised the rent was around $7K a month. We’re new residents in Fraser and wanted to see if the local shops have been factored into the suburb upgrades or are they privately owned buildings? We’d love to see some sort of upgrade to the shops and local play areas upgraded.

As far as I know all shop buildings in the ACT are privately owned, but the government owns the carparks and is responsible for landscaping, paving etc up to the boundary line of the private shop building.

A good example is Charnwood the shop buildings have covered walkways, the edge of that walkway is the boundary between government and building owner.
