Ask RiotACT: Old household goods collection

By tamwol 25 July 2018 10

Ask RiotACT

Hi, Rioters,

I have some old household furniture including mattresses, a working fridge and CRT TV, desk and chairs, as well as some unusable things like a non-working TV.

Looking for recommendations for collection, please.

Will a charity come and take the usable stuff? And a rubbish collection service for other stuff that can’t go in a skip?

Thanks.

Vinnies for non electrical items, join Canberra Freecycle for everything else.

"Rebound" collect and recycle mattresses cheaper than taking to tip.

Mancare in Fyshwick takes some furniture and will collect. It’s a Salvo store.

Instructions and phone number are in the link. They might not take mattresses and some white goods, but desk and chair should be okay. But they will be able to tell you what they do take.

Join a local "Buy Nothing" group on Facebook, to give away anything useful. 🙂

I could be wrong but I think Vinnies takes decent stuff

Take it to the Green Shed. If you are a pensioner they will come and get it, but it must be on the side of the road as they do not come onto property.
