Ask RiotACT: Problems with moths and rugs

Hi there,

I have just discovered that I have moths eating my carpet and clothing and I’m trying to track down where they might have come from.

I bought some rugs from Costco just before they appeared and while the timing may be completely co-incidental, I’m wondering if anyone else has had the same problem?

Definitely moth larvae, not carpet beetle? We lost lots of good clothing to carpet beetle recently. They find ways in to the house lay their eggs, or can be brought in on clothes from the clothesline also I believe.

Moth balls, moth balls, moth balls. I have recently found beautiful fine wool suits shredded by moths. I had to throw them away. Heartbreaking.
