The April 2014 Community Forum for the Belconnen Community Council will be held at:

7.30pm, Tuesday 15 April 2014
Community Room above the Belconnen Library
Chandler Street, Belconnen

A pre-DA consultation will be presented by Warwick Dunstone from the dezignteam on the revised plans for the old Jamison Inn site. Now known as Macquarie Park, the earlier plans for 322 apartments have been replaced by 93 three-bedroomed terrace houses of 2-3 storeys. Check out the attached flyer to get an idea of how it will look.

The second part of the public meeting will be devoted to a discussion on how the “desired character” of the Belconnen Town Centre can be described for inclusion in the Belconnen Precinct Code within the Territory Plan. This will be part of the update of the Belconnen town centre master plan.

The Scullin Party at the Shops, supported by the Belconnen Community Council, on Friday 14 March, was a great success. Council provided shelters, an information booth about Council’s work and a selection of old photographs of Belconnen, courtesy of the ACT Heritage Library, which attracted a lot of attention. Following the interest in old Belconnen photographs, Council has decided to build an archive for our fiftieth anniversary coming up in 2016. Do you have any photographs that you consider to be particularly interesting to the Belconnen community? Stay tuned for more details!
