Police are calling for information into an alleged home invasion in which a trio is said to have broken into a home brandishing weapons before assaulting a neighbour who tried to help.

It is alleged three people armed themselves with weapons before they broke into a home on Templestowe Avenue in Conder on Wednesday night (8 January).

The trio allegedly threatened a man and child who were at the home, then stole keys to a blue Holden Commodore with ACT registration YLO69S.

When a neighbour came out to help, they were allegedly struck with a baseball bat.

It is alleged the home invaders then fled the scene in the stolen Commodore and a white Holden Barina with ACT registration YKP37E.

Police officers arrived at the scene at almost 11 pm, an ACT Policing spokesperson said.

“Both vehicles were seen by police driving erratically, and the Commodore was located in Coombs later that evening,” the spokesperson alleged.

“Police are appealing for any witnesses to the home invasion, or anyone who may have seen or has dash cam footage of the Barina or Commodore driving erratically in Canberra’s south last night, to come forward.”
