Belconnen Police Station will open its doors to the community on Saturday, November 8, between 10am and 2pm for its Open Day and Security Expo.

The Open Day and Security Expo will feature a guided tour of Belconnen Police Station, free security product giveaways and advice to help you secure your home or business, and fun activities for the whole family including free face painting, jumping castle and BBQ. Members of the public will be able to meet and greet with Constable Kenny Koala and the AFP Canines, explore a range of police vehicles and have a coffee with the police.

Acting Officer-in-Charge of Belconnen Police Station Sergeant Allison Williams said that it’s a rare opportunity for the public to see inside a police station, particularly one that is state-of-the-art.

“We are really excited to be opening our doors to the public. We hope everyone takes the opportunity to come see the station, meet our team and take home some products and advice to secure your home and property, especially in the lead up to the Christmas holidays,” Sergeant Williams said.

“While burglary reports have been on a five-year downward trend across Canberra, we generally see an increase in burglaries during the Christmas holiday season, and through providing practical do-it-yourself home security advice, we hope to help minimise the chance of Canberra homes being targeted. We’ll also have information specifically about preventing bicycle theft; as the weather warms up and more people are out and about on their bikes.”

Neighbourhood Watch and Crime Stoppers members will also attend to provide information and advice about what you can do to help keep your suburb safe.

The public open day will be held Saturday 8 November from 10am to 2pm, on the corner of Benjamin Way and Market Street, Belconnen. The public is asked to use the parking available on Lathlain Street, Belconnen.
