Perhaps you are mid-way through a renovation in Deakin or the gleaming owner of a newly purchased family home in Duffy? Maybe you noticed that the recent downpour ended up everywhere but the pipes?

Regardless of what has brought you here, chances are that you are need of a swift gutter repair or even a replacement. Think you can do it yourself? Think again my friend!

Gutters are more important than you may indeed realise. Effective guttering systems are essential for maintaining the structural integrity of your home and preventing expensive damages.

Without them, water would literally run straight off the roof making its way into walls, windows, and eroding foundations. Poorly maintained gutters are tinder deposits posing serious fire hazards, and sub-standard installations are fraught with issues.

Add to that the need for licensing and adherence to building codes and you will quickly realise that this job is best left in the hands of the professionals. Now, where to find them?

With the market awash with moonlighting handymen finding a qualified and reputable service is ever more important. Fortunately, we have rounded up the best gutter repair and replacement services in the Canberra region. Read on below to find out more!

What makes a great gutter repair and replacement service?

The best gutter repair and replacement services take their work seriously. They understand that more is at stake than some light runoff. As such they accept nothing less than the highest professional and safety standards to keep your downpipes flowing freely. Here is what we think separates the best from the rest:

  • Qualified & licensed. As guttering is hazardous work there are a few things to keep in mind with qualifications and licensing. Firstly, gutter installers within the ACT must hold a class D building license issued the by the ACT Planning and Land Authority. Secondly, installers can also require a high risk work license issued by Worksafe ACT, along with a white card. As for qualifications, the prerequisite is a certificate III in Roof Plumbing. Finally, be mindful that guttering is subject to several building codes and standards. For a professional finish that is also compliant ensure your trade has the appropriate credentials.
  • Insured. Any vertical work is serious business in terms of safety. Scaffolding and ladders present hazard risks, particularly when navigating upper stories and restricted spaces. As such, only contract those services with an appropriate level of public liability insurance. This will ensure any accidents are covered appropriately, providing peace of mind for you as the buyer.
  • Reputable products & parts. Great gutter repair and replacement services will use the best parts and premium products. To maximise your gutters lifespan ensure your contractor uses the appropriate materials from reputable brands. Using quality fittings the first time around will prevent costly repairs due to substandard parts and installation. Remember, failed gutter systems can cause serious water issues around foundations, walls, windows, and ceilings. So, heed the importance of quality to mitigate these costly damages.
  • Clear contracts. As with most trades, it pays to invest some time obtaining quotes from various contractors. These quotes should stipulate all the detail you need to assess the quality of products, and of course workmanship. Ask about the type of material included and whether the gutters are seamless. Also confirm what will be used to attach the gutters and the types of finishes on corners. These small details should be answered easily and included on the contract for transparency.
  • Warranties & after care. Contractors who offer product warranties and workmanship guarantees are head and shoulders above the rest. So, services that are prepared to back their offer in writing are absolutely worth considering. Moreover, contractors who offer after care services like repairs and maintenance allow you to conveniently shop under the one roof.

Used AVC Roof Plumbing to replace guttering. Great crew. Cheerful, polite, conscientious, skilled and reliable. Highly recommended.

my partner and i had React do OUR guttering AND Colourbond fascias to help restore crumbling timber fascias along with other exposed woodwork, AS WELL AS they did a good fantastic job. MY PERSONAL house \’m built, after that extended, coming from a great owner-builder that didn’t understand what a good instantly line was, AND that used almost all sorts connected with second-hand material inside just about all some other sizes. zero 3 pieces regarding fascia were your own same. React put for the extra operate IN ADDITION TO date to make sure every thing fitted IN ADDITION TO matched up, even put throughout excess large guttering AND downpipe to the flat-roof garage consequently That couldn’t overflow (not portion of your original job) AND worked overtime for getting your own excess run performed for the original schedule.. http://www.premierhomerepairsinc.com/

I cannot recommend Canberra Roof and Gutter/s. Wayne Kelly promised the earth when quoting but it turned out to be a lot of money for just a few hours work. He didn’t fix a gutter leak even though it was included in the quote. Communication is non existent with many unreturned phone calls, and also a number of no shows when he said he would be here. An unsatisfactory and expensive experience.

The devil was advertising for them??

Resurrecting this thread to see if anyone has any other recommendations. I did contact all top and got a quote. Kane seemed very competent and straightforward but, as we are looking at a sizeable chunk of change, I would like to get a second quote before going ahead with it.

Anyone have any other recommendations for high-quality, reputable roofers?

We had React do our guttering and Colourbond fascias to restore crumbling timber fascias and other exposed woodwork, and they did a fantastic job. Our house was built, then extended, by an owner-builder who didn’t know what a straight line was, and who used all sorts of second-hand material in all different sizes. No two pieces of fascia were the same. React put in the extra work and time to make sure every thing fitted and matched up, even put in extra large guttering and downpipe on the flat-roof garage so it couldn’t overflow (not part of the original job) and worked overtime to get the extra work done to the original schedule.

Not the cheapest quote, but I’m glad we chose them because they stopped and consulted about how to fix the problems as soon as they became evident, and worked out solutions within budget rather than just asking for more money.

They also repointed the roof, replaced dozens of broken tiles and painted it. Also well.done

React are the Supercheap Auto of the roofing world.

i’ve used alltop roofing for repointing, replacing broken tiles, repairing flashing and doing new gutters and installing gutter guard. extremely competitive pricing and top quality work. can’t recommend them any more highly!

Wow, thanks for the quick responses, fantastic. Will give all top roofing a shot with a quote and see how it comes out. It seems that they were getting good vibes in previous posts as well.

I personally wouldn’t recommend Quality A Must. Seemed very disorganised when prepping for a fairly simply gutter replacement at my place and even decided to just show up one day and drop the materials out the front, without telling us, before we’d even agreed to an installation date.

Getting a formal quote out of them, rather than just an arbitrary number on the back of a business card, was equally as hard.

Ditto, plus broken tiles and ridge capping.

That’s a bit lazy! We got our gutters and roof replaced with Colourbond last year. We went straight to RA and found lots of praise for All Top Roofing http://www.alltoproofing.com.au/# in the old threads.

It was spot on. They were helpful, reliable, accommodating, much cheaper, and helped us with insulation, ceilings and the installation of a solar hot water system too. Give Kane a call, lovely guy.

These type of things aggravate my wife, so in turn make my life less enjoyable. I won’t be using them again.

That being said, the quality of their work seems to be holding up, for what it’s worth.
