By johnboy - 18 October 2013 3

A 33-year-old Kambah man was arrested following a police pursuit in Kaleen and Lyneham last night (Thursday October 17).

About 5.40pm, police attempted to stop a purple BMW after seeing the vehicle perform a burnout on Ginninderra Drive.

The man failed to stop and was pursued by police along Ginninderra Drive and into North Lyneham within the 80km/hour speed limit, before the BMW became disabled with a flat tyre.

The offender ran from the vehicle and was chased by police before he was caught hiding behind a premises.

The man was taken to Belconnen station to undertake a breath analysis where he returned a blood alcohol reading of 0.167 (special driver limit 0.00).

The man was transported to the ACT Watch House where he was charged with driving with alcohol in blood, driving while disqualified, performing a burnout, driving dangerously and failing to stop when signalled by police.

The man will face ACT Magistrates Court today and police will oppose bail.

Good to see the speeding message is getting through.

Yep, do a burnout, refuse to stop, run away, but at least he wasn’t speeding!
