Canberra auction house ALLBIDS is holding a classic car auction online, giving bidders a chance to buy the car of their dreams, including this eternally classy 1966 E-type Jaguar Coupe Series 1 with a 4.2-litre straight six-cylinder engine, Willow Green paint, and retrimmed roof lining and seats.

This car has a T5 Gearbox installed without modifications, and can be swapped out relatively easily to reinstall the rebuilt original four-speed which is included with the sale. The car is coveted by classic car enthusiasts and is often cited as the most beautiful car ever made.

With a total of fifteen extremely special cars on sale, the auctions start tonight and will end on Wednesday, 27 May 2020, at 7:30 pm.

Ben Hastings from ALLBIDS says the Classic Cars Auction is a rare opportunity to buy a very special vehicle. He expects the auction to be closely watched.

“This is a beautiful car,” he says, looking at the E-type Jaguar. “And it sounds the part, too, it’s got triple SU carburetors, and it has a 0-to-100 time of less than 7 seconds. It was famous for that,” he said.

Ben has other cars for sale in the Classic Car Auction, including the twin-turbo two-door coupe silver 1992 FD RX-7, which is a clean and neat, perfectly tuned example of rotary engine perfection.

Rotary engined cars need a different style of driving as the power band is in the tachometer, or that certain pitch of the engine that rotary drivers recognise as peak performance. This one has it all with a leather interior, great paint, strut brace, Apexi hand controller, Defi gauges, carbon hydro-dipped interior plastics and a front mount intercooler. And it’s the model that’s most the collectible, the FD.

For Holden fans, the HSV ute and the original condition HK Monaro are a must-see, while Ford fans will pore over the specs of the FPV Cobra and the MK2 Cortina.

The genuine 1968 HK Monaro is in mostly original condition and has had only one owner who stored the car securely undercover for 25 years. It’s a stunning and very rare example of the 1968 model with factory 186, paired with the optional 2-speed power glide console shift with options added including factory heater, radio, front disc brakes and reclining seats.

The FPV Cobra BF MKII Super Pursuit ute is the 58th of 100 made, and under the bonnet you’ll find a 6-speed 5.4 litre V8 302 kw engine. This is a rare opportunity for an as-new Cobra, with full Canberra history since delivery.

Or, if you’re an early motorsport follower, you might like to check out the Mercedes 300 SEL, which was the vehicle made famous as the LeMans race car that launched AMG. The fastest ‘family’ car on the market for its time, the 300SEL rocketed from 0-to-100 in 6.6 seconds, making it more muscle car than family sedan.

There’s also a 1989 Bentley Turbo RL (LWB) with a very classy bar arrangement in the back, a Nissan Skyline R34-GT-R 2-door coupe you can’t miss, and a very beautiful Porsche Boxster, and many more.
