Territory And Municipal Services have announced their planning a series of large burns over the next two days at Bullen Range, Kowen Forest and Googong Dam.

“It is likely that smoke from these burns will be visible from the urban area for several days. Every effort is made to conduct the burns in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke. Like in all controlled burns, safety will be of paramount importance. Experienced fire managers, supported by trained fire-fighters, will conduct the burning operations.”

ACT Health advises that people with asthma and other chronic respiratory diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
