UPDATE 4:34 pm: The fire is contained and units from ACT Rural Fire Service and ACT Parks and Conservation Service are on scene. Firefighters will remain on scene to continue monitoring the fire ground.

An advice-level bushfire warning has been issued for a bushfire near Bendora Dam in a remote area of the Namadgi National Park.

The fire started after reports of a car fire in the area at 11:40 am.

ACT Fire and Rescue firefighters were on the scene about 30 minutes later.

The ACT Emergency Services Agency (ESA) said the bushfire is in the remote area of Namadgi National Park, on Bendora Road between Bulls Head picnic area and Bendora Dam.

“This is an advice-level bushfire warning,” an ESA spokesperson said.

“If you are in this area, you need to keep up to date.”

The fire is being controlled and units from ACT Rural Fire Service, ACT Parks and Conservation Service and ACT Fire and Rescue are on scene.

“The size of the fire is currently one hectare. Under current weather conditions, the fire should be easy to control,” the ESA spokesperson said.

No properties are under threat at this time, but people in the area may be affected by smoke.

Call triple zero (000) immediately if you or your property are under threat.
