Last night the Liberals announced they were going to try providing basic municipal services, in the form of a green waste bin, if they’re elected.
This afternoon Simon Corbell has taken the time to explain why this is a bad idea.
You see in the long term absence of the ACT Government doing what councils all over Australia can be bothered doing for their rate payers a cottage industry has sprung up removing people’s garden waste. We wouldn’t want to mess with the trash pak operators by doing a basic job of local government now would we?
Also it’s not the best option, according to Simon and his paid consultants, for reducing greenhouse gases. We’re be pretty sure Zed is completely out of craps to give on the subject of per tonne greenhouse emission pricing.
Simon expresses puzzlement and bewilderment as to why Zed would propose the ACT Government start offering basic municipal services. If Simon wants to retain government he might want to get across this stuff.
