Campbell man to face court on sex charge

A 54-year-old Campbell man will appear in ACT Magistrates Court today, Saturday 11 December, after allegedly taking a woman home and having sexual intercourse without her consent.

Police executed a search warrant at his residence at Ainslie Village on Friday and arrested the man soon after.

It will be alleged he encountered a heavily intoxicated woman in Glebe Park in the early hours of last Sunday morning, 5 December 2021.

He took her to his residence in Ainslie Village where police will allege he had sexual intercourse with her while she was unable to provide consent.

He has been charged with one count of sexual intercourse without consent following the incident.

ACT Policing is encouraging anyone who experiences sexual violence to contact police.
