Canberra Roller Derby League is up ‘n rolling, and looking for new members!
Canberra Roller Derby League is a non-profit association, run by the skaters and for the skaters, and dedicated to promoting the sport of women’s roller derby.
CRDL will be holding two information nights:
The Front in Lyneham on Thursday June 25 from 8pm
And
at Hush Lounge in Phillip on Tuesday June 30 from 8pm.
These information evenings are to give budding skaters a chance to talk to current League members about all aspects of derby.
While Roller Derby is a women’s sport, it requires a whole community of individuals, both male and female, to make it happen. As well as recruiting new skaters CRDL is also looking for referees (male and female) that provide on-skate umpiring for the bouts. Referees train with derby skaters and, like any sport, referees are vital to the staging of the game. But even if you don’t want to be on skates there are still plenty of things you can do to be involved, just contact us! Classes for the next intake of new skaters will start in late July so get your skates on and make sure you contact CRDL!
Don’t worry if you’ve never skated before – if you’re keen we’ll be starting from scratch. Experienced skaters are welcome to talk to us about the possibility of completing a skills test to join the league.
