Canberra scores another World Championships

By Kramer 7 October 2009 1

Canberra mountain biking, and Stromlo Forest Park have received another international tick of approval, as it has just been awarded the hosting of the 2010 World Solo 24 hour Mountain Bike Championships. The announcement on the CORC site comes hot on the heels of the highly successful Mountain Bike & Trials World Championships which were hosted at Stromlo in September.

If you have aspirations to be a world champion it’s not too late, as one of the qualifier events, the Australian 24 hour Mountain Bike Champs are on at Stromlo this weekend. Otherwise head out next year as a spectator to see some of the fastest and masochistic mountain bikers in the world take on Stromlo.

Hardly a spectator event, but it’s fantastic to see these kinds of events coming to Canberra.
