Car Spam in Belconnen

For the 2nd time in less than a week my car has been spammed by useless numpties.

Parking in a car park in Belconnen these two fliers were left under the windshield.

Apart from being illegal (litter laws) they’re both annoying and dangerous.

For the second one, the fool who did it only put it slightly up the windscreen right behind the steering wheel.
Thus getting out late its dark I didn’t see it until I was driving! Car headlights only face outwards you numpties!

What happens if it rains and your numpty ad then covers the middle of my or someone else’s window?
Who wants to have to check for car spam, idiots!

This brings me to other point, if you actually look at the ad on the right it seems to be one of the best looking ads ever.

An excellent use of Adobe Photoshop(or perhaps windows paint).

Black text really stands out on that dark blue sky!

The Company has also taken the effort to register for a Hotmail account!

I’d also guess they spent a great deal of time finding the images on google and selectively just cutting and pasting whatever they saw first.

Although I can’t help but think you could have just taken a photo of a real house!

So one has to really wonder if Officeworks or Stirling Mortlock knew they was going to have their brand littered all over a carpark(likely several) or if some advertising genius thought it would be the same thing as doing a letter drop into actual letterboxes!

Replace your whinge-screen wipers.

Very dangerous. Hell, putting leaflets on car windscreens could well be classed as attempted murder. Better call the spambulance.

I think it might be a race between the Spambulance and the Whaaaaaa-mbulance in this case.

He probably paid at least 50c a flyer…

You aren’t in government procurement by any chance?

Lol! I wish people paid that for flyers. As a designer, I would have made a killing!

No I’m not but as a small business owner I sure wish I had a govt budget to market with! Small print runs can be cost prohibitive and I remember many times having no option but to run a small job on the photocopier (at officeworks coincidentally where at last check a one page colour copy is 75c) or trying to find an affordable colour printer that i could get 1000 decent prints off before the drum and toner needed replacing. I did assume that a designer was not used ;).

Doesn’t change my original point though – let’s try and support small operators such as this handyman or at least not ridicule him/her as a ‘useless numptie’

Can you really begrudge a small operator who obviously just wants to earn a living and pick up a few clients? He probably paid at least 50c a flyer for printing which even to put a couple of hundred out is not pocket change. Good on him for showing some initiative and getting off his butt. (Officeworks don’t have the same excuse though!)

The window washers on northbourne however…

small operator?
officeworks?

oops! forgot rule one . . .
always read the post in its entirety before responding.
appologies

solution the the handyman flyer: call and book a quote with him, then when he arrives, stick your own homemade flyers all over his windscreen!

however it might be worth calling/emailing officeworks customer relations/advertising department if you can find their contact details and letting them know their advertising material is being distruibuted illegally…

Take the leaflet and post it back to them in an un-stamped envelope.
They then have to pay a tax to receive the letter.

o_O

I had one of the handy man ones last night and it was so lovely and glossy I couldn’t be angry.

Take the leaflet and post it back to them in an un-stamped envelope.

Not much, but it might help you over your issues with this.

Dude, get a new spam filter.

best current one is a giant black barky dog and all the car windows down.

Report it to the city rangers, it falls under their powers (along with the scourge of rogue camping)

I’m sure both business’ are really liking the free advertising you are giving them. If it upsets you so much put the flyers in an envelope(s) and send it back to them sans stamp.

Dude, get a new spam filter.

Its annoying, but i have a no junk mail sign on my letterbox. Apparently real estate pamphlets are not considered junk by real estate agents!

I’m not going to lose any sleep over it though.

find something else to complain about pathetic Canberra
