Casuarina Sands to be revamped

johnboy 3 August 2009 4

ACTEW have announced that they’re lodging a Development Application (DA) to pretty up the much loved Casuarina Sands swimming area:

The DA provides information on the proposed works, including improvements to parking, upgraded facilities and additional shade, BBQs and picnic tables.

ACTEW will be undertaking a community presentation to brief the public on the proposed works at Casuarina Sands and to answer any questions the public may have. This information session will be held on Thursday 6 August, from 6pm to 8pm at the Quality Hotel Woden, Cnr Melrose Drive and Launceston Street, Phillip.

And now we wait to hear how this will impact on the withered newt.

I suppose this has to do with the Cotter Dam expansion & trying to get people away from the Cotter Picnic spot.

I always thought it odd that the old houses out there were used to house sex offenders.
I know this gets them out of the suburbs, but during summer, with all the kiddies swimming, this must seem like a lolly shop to them

I’m waiting for some some history-challenged pollie to suggest putting a weir across the river, to make it an OK place to swim …
