Cheap accommodation in Canberra for two weeks?

Does anyone know of somewhere in Canberra where four adults and two kids could stay for three weeks, and where it doesn’t cost more than $500 per week? I have even tried looking into caravan on-site options, but they are still pretty expensive.

We’ve tried the house swap website, but no one seems interested in a two week stay in a house in Perth over Christmas and New Year in exchange for their own house in Canberra.

This whole thing is turning into a source of anxiety for the whole family 🙁

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Hey calligraphy,
Short term accommodation in canberra can be quite tricky as they are quite popular with politicians and their staff. I have also heard that on numerous properties they actually get booked our for couple of months in advance!

One of my ex colleague and his family visited canberra for the floriade last year and i was appointed with the task of arranging their accommodation. They actually wanted an apartment so that they could do a bit of cooking as they had young kids and one of them was vegetarian.

I have actually got them bookmarked as they were quite good and were reasonable as well http://accommodatecanberra.com.au/

My 2 cents.

You might find something in the surrounding area – Queanbeyan, or even Bungendore.

Greenleigh Motel in Curtin is pretty basic but might do a deal on a family room for a week or two, especially if you don’t need room cleaned & sheets changed every day.
