Chic Henry spins in ever decreasing circles at ever increasing pace

By fnaah 8 December 2008 89

According to the ABC, Chic Henry has had a gutful, and is using the same breath to tell everyone that Summernats is here to stay, but might move to Sydney if the price is right.

He also continues to cry poor, stating that he only has four days a year to make his salary.

There there, Chic. Maybe the Sydney-siders will be more forgiving.

What’s Your opinion?

They’re having crackers in Civic, I’m going to eye them from my highest room.

Actually teh ‘nats are useful: years ago the top cracker seller lived in this area, and had got in some special crackers for the ‘nats. Only there was a big fire ban, so they coudln’t have their display. So the cracker bloke donated the un-used crackers to our local Australia Day celebration. They got a very big roll-up to the flag-raising that year!

One can only wish…

Maybe the NYE fireworks (IS there any this year) will be a ritual incineration of the majority of Australian bogan population assembled in one area.

I was in Qbn today (it was busy, too), and didn’t see any obvious Summernats folk there. Last year there were quite a few of them around. Maybe they’ve made a trap for them all in Natex.

Summernats, just like a Britsh B&B, but with an extra B.

Bogans, Beer and Boobs.

However, I have no problem with it, as long as the bogans stay where they belong and don’t hassle older Canberrans as they walk they Scottish terriers down Northbourne Avenue on the balmy summers night.

DMD summernats brings the late-night civic crowd to the inner north all day long.

It makes popping down the local shop a possible ordeal for the duration. And driving the local streets.

Dickson woolies has to emply an armed guard. And several nearby unit blocks have to employ their own security.

You should spend an afternoon at Dickson shops while it’s on – it is an experience.
Interesting cars to look at in the carpark. And interesting people all over the place.

Just don’t bump into anyone, wear anything the least bit noticeable, or pull out in front of anyone.

FFS, name another event that Canberra could have from NYD for three or four days, contributing millions to the economy at a time when the city is otherwise completely dead?

Balloon Festival

Hmmm. Hot air balloons in hot Canberra summer air.. Hmmmm…

Not sure that idea will float

You know, there is a place in Canberra where there is hooning, drunken violence and sexual harassment every thursday, friday and saturday night. It’s called civic.

Taking summernats away won’t take the hoons.

Chick, please take your Summernats to Sydney and then Canberra people might be game enough to leave their homes, and those of us who plan every year to leave Canberra during Summernats might decide to stay at home. This could add more to the economy of Canberra than the hoons spend. Mind you, what other jurisdiction would want to have such an anti-social event.
