It is three days from the beginning of Canberra’s very own circus festival, Circus for Life! The festival opens this Friday night, at Warehouse Circus HQ in Chifley, with, the productions Around the World (Circus Style) and Mad as a Hatter.
Around the World (Circus Style) is a magical globe-trotting journey around the wonders of the world in a truly unique style. Watch the British Royal Guards display a flair for the creative in a hilarious staff-spinning comedy, and allow the Hawaiian Hula Hoopers to transport you to a beachside paradise far, far away. You’ll visit the US and engage in a thrilling basketball game in which acrobats soar through the hoops in place of the traditional basketball, before retiring to a romantic Italian restaurant for a spot of plate-spinning genius.
Mad as a Hatter is a wonderfully wacky rendition of Alice in Wonderland that will leave you unable to see this classic fairy tale in quite the same way! The zany chaos of the tea party is recreated using all of your best-loved characters – this time with some fascinating skills thrown in.
Both productions are written and performed by the participants of the Warehouse Circus Core after school program. The shows are a culmination of the many skills and performance techniques developed by participants over the past year. Suitable for whole family, Around the World (Circus Style) and Mad as a Hatter will be shown back to back this weekend as a Circus double whammy not be missed With adult tickets only $12 and Concession Tickets $7. Tickets can be purchased via www.warehousecircus.org.au/circus-for-life/ or at the door. Circus for Life will continue for a further three weekends until the 10th of November with loads of performances and interactive activities open to the public.
