Unfortunately their (Coffee Club) coffee lacks any depth of flavour and their food prices are ridiculous. This franchise trades on image only, like their coffee, more froth than substance. The little fluro place next door certainly missed the mark in decor but their bacon and egg rolls are a mighty fine brekkie.

oh dude, Coffee Club has always had terrible coffee. I remember trying their first store in Canberra and not being able to finish the damn thing. When you can make something that back them was worse than the insta-sludge from Maccas (who ironically have improved their coffee a lot), you have no right to use “coffee” in your business name, much less call it excellent in your slogan.

Their food actually used to be quite decent, but a couple of years ago the quality dipped at exactly the same time they jacked the prices up sharply. An open grill suddenly had half the toppings, but was $4 dearer.

Then you’ve got the even more deplorable Coffee Guru that has never served edible coffee or food, the Civic one perpetually smells of burnt toast.

I will still enjoy drinking coffee on a saturday morning at the ‘Upper Class’ cafe – in my tracky daks and beanie.

How else would you be dressed?

Amusing satiric T shirt and carefully ripped jeans with matching scruffy hair and a thousand dollar bike waiting like a loyal steed?

Dont forget that the bike must be a ‘fixie’.

antman – I suspect your query regarding deep-fried Mars Bars could well be solved in this Charnie/Kippax/Macgregor part of town.

More parking at Kippax would be nice too 🙂

There’s plenty of parking at Kippax. I have never had to do a second lap of either carpark.

Yep, there’s plenty of parking there. The only issue is that depending on when you’re there, the available parking may be at the other end of the centre to where you want to be. Heading down there on a Friday or Saturday evening and trying to get a park at the Magpies end of the car park can be pretty hard. 5.30 – 6pm on a weekday, the carpark opposite wollies can be pretty full.

The main issue with the Kippax parking is that from the car park near the Woolworths petrol station at one end, to the Magpies club at the other end, it’s a 500m walk. So it’s very spread out. Personally, that doesn’t bother me – walking a couple of hundred extra metres isn’t an issue. I can see if the Kippax area gets much busier though, that parking is going to be an issue.

I actually can’t wait for the Coffee Club to open at Kippax… there was never anywhere to get a real coffee on the weekends.. The cafe that was there beforehand was pretty terrible and only a fan among the oldies.

I don’t see them “taking” business off the other food shop there.. Coffee club has cafe style food, the other place is a takeaway with everything being deep fried.

Macca’s on the other hand… I’m a little worried about what increased traffic to the area means for an already terrible intersection, especially since a death occurred during road works. What is that area going to be like once they open ???

I for one am looking forward to finally having hot food, cold beverages and frozen dessert treats that i was lacking by driving the extra 4m27sec to Charnwood maccas from my palace.

Bout bloody time and bring back maccas delivery i say.

Or is that softly… as in “Killing me softly”…

*cough, cough* Anyway…

Trendy? Hmmm… Trend? Yes, definitely.

Presence of Maccas and CC reflects the demography of Kippax and surrounding areas, which means there are lot of young children, teenagers, and young adults, who are the largest patrons of the said businesses.

It’s just a trend of the times. They come, and they go.

Do you where a shirt of some sort too? Or is that seen as snobbery, even at the ‘Upper Class’?

Christ, wear wear wear wear wear. Where do you wear? Must kill myself swiftly now.

It’s the honourable thing to do.

Has anyone tried the fresh seafood shop near Jabal’s Halal? I only noticed it a little while ago.

Yep. I love it.

They take orders too (particularly useful for New Years, Xmas period and that sorta thing).

Just curious, is it run by the same guy who used to sell seafood out of his van parked at the Kippax Tavern? He lost his parking spot when it closed, it’d be nice to think he was popular enough to open a proper shop.

Nope. Different lads running it. They’re very nice, good with the kids and all that. Quite solicitous – will scale and clean, fillet or whatever you require.

A tad more expensive than Woolies (but given the quality and selection on offer, that’s hardly a criticism).
