This Saturday Conservation Volunteers is hosting a Come and Try Day at Mount Ainslie for new and existing volunteers who want to make a difference to their environment.
Participants will have the opportunity to meet some regular local volunteers as well as the Conservation Volunteers Staff. It’s also a great chance to learn more about the projects Conservation Volunteers undertakes to protect and restore Canberra’s environment and how you can get involved.
There will be a free barbecue lunch from 12:30.
The day will also be a chance to get your hands dirty and have a go at some of the activities that form part of regular Conservation Volunteers projects. The team will be undertaking several important tasks to assist the Mount Ainslie Weeders who look after the Mount Ainslie site on a regular basis. Activities for the day include constructing wire tree guards, cutting down large woody weeds, hand weeding smaller weeds and mulching new plantings – All in aid of continuing to regenerate this site for native plants and wildlife.
Transport will be provided from Civic – with pickup at 9:45, or meet the team on site (contact Conservation Volunteers for a map and directions)
