The ACT Supreme Court has dismissed an application to stop the publication of an Integrity Commission special report, but it still cannot be made public at this time.

Region had journalists present for the official decision on Tuesday (25 June) but cannot report what was said in court due to suppression orders.

While the application was dismissed, the court granted a temporary injunction until 4:30 pm on Thursday (27 June) to allow the plaintiff in this matter the chance to file a Notice of Intention to Appeal, should they wish to do so.

A statement from the ACT Integrity Commission noted that the order not to identify the person who made the application remained in effect.

“It is not appropriate for any further comment to be made.”

These suppression orders are a major threat to democracy. They seem to be common in the ACT.

The taxpayer paid for it and therefore has every right to see it published. Change my mind.
