As I’m many of you may have heard, Ronnie James Dio recently passed away.
Dio performed with, amongst others, Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath, Heaven & Hell, and his own band Dio, over a period of 5 decades. Known for his distinctive, fantasy-themed lyrics and powerfully operatic voice, Dio was universally recognised as one of the most influential figures in the history of heavy metal: the grandfather of heavy metal. He’s also credited with popularizing the devil horns hand gesture in rock music.
In order to honour the life and work of Ronnie James Dio, Canberra band Live Evil are performing two shows in honour of the little big man:
- Sat 24th July – PJ O’Reilly’s, Tuggeranong – (pre-sales tickets for this show are available from both PJ’s and Better Music)
- Friday 6th August – The Basement, Belconnen (no pre-sales tickets, once the venue has hit capacity, no more punters will be allowed inside)
I hope that you’ll come along and enjoy a night of nostalgia and the very best of classic heavy metal.
