This weekend marks the end of the financial year and as such I feel sure the clubs and pubs of Canberra will be filled with accountants celebrating the amount of work about to come their way.

If you were an accountant (or if you are an accountant), where would you be partying this weekend?

Is Lan Shannon still around?
I remember her from the old daze of Liquid!

I’m just going to be glad when the madness of spending is over and work goes back to normal

Tomorrow night at the greenroom also doubles up as Battle Kath’s birthday party… so for anyone interested in partying… come along…

Insomnia = Meche
Quatros = Closed

And on Saturday night:
DJs Chris Fraser, Milkbar Nick, Nash T, Blake and Matt Dubya + VJ Jim Medcraft at Academy
Los Capitanes with Super Best Friends, Rook at The Greenroom (damn them! I won’t get to see them again!)
Seven with Barrel of Monkeys, Dance With Amps at The Greenroom

plus dance/house DJs at a whole bunch of clubs

Yeah but I get to schlepp around Savers Brunswick on Sat [the deparment store of OP SHops…about the floorspace of Big W Woden…everything all size and colour graded…and watching the old man X-dressers furtively fondling the USED women’s lingerie until they realise you’re watching them]

I liked Ari’s answer the best.

Oooops forgot to say Blair and Bliss are also on at the Merry Muse…we love our stodge and big Polish beers…can’t get my mouth around the name only the bottle…and the honey vodka

Tonight [29th] Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen @Merry Muse

Tomorrow Randall-Blair & Wedded Bliss [though they call themselves Wedded Bliss these days] and a few dodgy mates as support [sorry I’m in Melb for the 3CR Benefit Gig for Blue Green Footprints part of 3CR…feel sorry for me …Small Knives then COnway Savage [Bad Seed] then Maurice Frawley and the Yard Hands….hey they had a kickarse review of their new CD “Good Things” in the Age this week…and they’ve got great post-gig staying power…watch for all of these bands when they come to CBR…soon we hope]

Wednesday 5th…Painted Hearts @ Phoenix…by my highly subjective tastes one of the few decent and recent bands in CBR

Fri 7th…An exhibition opening at ANCA which seems to involve at least two dodgy blokes I know

Sat 8th…Back to the Phoenix…The Dumb Earth…they’ve got a new CD which was launched at Easter…any band that Conway Savage is a support act for has got to be worth checking out

GILF are pretty awesome, a proud all lesbian ensemble,I recommend checking them out.

“He died with a falafel in his hand” finishes off its run at Gorman House this weekend – performances Friday at 8pm, Saturday at 6pm and 9 pm, and Sunday at 5 pm and 8 pm. Costs $16/11, phone 62473150.

From the leaflet, they promise “Sexually Chargd Latvians, Dopey Decoy the pot head surfer, a sultry Swedish sex kitten, whips, chainsaws and transexuals” in a stage version of the John Birmingham share-house classic.

And since I haven’t posted these in a few weeks, these people may or may not be playing at these venues on Friday:

Antony S (UK)at Corvo’s Wine & Oyster Bar
Men’s Night at Cube with Matt Chavasse & Lan Shannon
ANus, Nate, Draz, Dee Q at FM’s Functions Night Club (I’ve heard rumours this place was shut)
Groovelounge de Plastique at Holy Grail – Civic
Superman Steve at Insomnia Nightclub (isn’t this place called Meche now?)
Steve Lind at Knightsbridge Penthouse
Matt Chavasse & Typhonic at Lot 33 (looked quite messy when I walked past last Sunday morning)
DJ Maka, Justin at Quatro Cafe Restaurant (except last I saw, Quatro was a gutted room)
Nash T at Three Degrees Lounge Bar

and:

GiLF at Kambah Inn
Vote for Pedro at The Deck Hotel & Bar

Plus the airport’s open day of its new bit of runway on Sunday morning.

At the greenroom on saturday night with Dance with Amps, Barrel of Monkeys and SEVEN!!!! best way to destress….
