Gamma.CON: Canberra's own pop culture festival has something for everyone this weekend!

Gamma.CON 2019

Gamma.CON is on at EPIC in Canberra this weekend! This festival celebrates everything pop culture: anime, TV shows, gaming, comics, cosplay and so much more. Enjoy a uniquely fun day out with the family, or make a weekend of it with a two-day pass.

Come and check out Gamma.CON’s biggest event yet, or participate in the many and varied activities taking place. There is something for everyone. With a full and exciting program, plan your day around the activities and workshops so you don’t miss out on your favourite events.

There will be multiple gaming opportunities, a film festival, and visiting YouTubers, gamers and artists to interact with.

International guest Youtuber, Jesse Cox will be attending both days as well, as the evening 18+ events this weekend. His hilarious ongoing commentary as he livestreams game ‘playthroughs’, has won him a massive fan base. Jesse runs regular podcasts with a group of friends and is the voice actor for several game characters.

A wide range of workshops are running all weekend.
Gaming entrepreneurs can discover how to turn their ideas into a ‘Kickstarter’. Tales from the Monster Megagame will be speaking about ‘how to build a 500+ player mega-game, and get paid for it too!’

Cosplay- or costume play is an evolving art form and subculture. At Gamma.CON, aspiring Cosplay enthusiasts can up-skill their costuming abilities. Workshops range from fashioning a costume from scratch and creating Cosplay armour, to styling an accompanying wig. Several cosplay artists will share and educate from their experiences, with Henchwench and Scrap Shop Props specifically giving tips on making a living from cosplay.

Observe or enter one of Gamma.CON’s many competitions and tournaments .
Watch from between your fingers as the Wargrounds’ warriors, Canberra local combat-focused LARP group suit up and wage war in structured medieval/fantasy battles.

Put your pop culture knowledge to the test in Gamma Trivia.
Come along and watch the shortlisted films in the Blue Shift Short Film Festival. You might been inspired to enter your own short film in 2020.
Drop into the AIE Indie Game Showcase to see what is new in the gaming world, and meet video game developers in person. Try out new and retro games at the Freeplay area or watch live game tournaments unfold.

Day or weekend tickets can be purchased online. Family tickets are available, and children under the age of 7 get in free.
