ACT Policing has arrested a 27-year-old Narrabundah man after he stole a vehicle last night (Thursday, April 4).

Around 8pm a woman and her two children were in the car at Braddon Seven Eleven petrol station when the alleged offender approached them, demanding they exit the vehicle.

The family complied with the alleged offender, who drove away. The victim immediately contacted police. Nobody was injured during the incident.

Around 8.20pm police observed the stolen vehicle in Lyons. The alleged offender was arrested and conveyed to the ACT Watch House.

The man will appear before the ACT Magistrates Court today, charged with stealing a motor vehicle, driving under the influence of alcohol and driving unlicensed. Police will oppose bail.

We now hear that Jones was under investigation in relation to a number of other crimes and further charges are expected to be laid. Jones was also facing charges of breaching a protection order and had 148 criminal entries against his name.

Yes, but don’t you understand that it was the stress of these hanging over him which made him commit the offense, it’s got to be a case of “mental health problems”. Not guilty, sentenced to counseling and a pension raise. He needs a new social worker..

I apologise,’mental health issues’? Well in that case he won’t be fit to plead so i will order that he be bailed immediately into Mr Dover’s care who no doubt will take very good care of him! Would you like to borrow my power tools Ben?

20 minutes after having a car stolen, the police locate it a number of K’s away and arrest the thief? That’s a job well done, right there.

Oh and Cantoangel as the Porker said people with modified cars are not criminals.Actually apart from a few who are known to be drug dealers the vast majority work for a living.

I saw a whole bunch of people with modified cars congregating at the Seven Eleven last night, I wonder if this scum was part of that crowd.

People with modified cars are not criminals. Could have been part of a bunch of people with crochet hooks and quilts I saw congregating though.

Maybe he just needed to get home? I’m sure the court will hear about his dissatisfaction with Action busses and their time table on a Thursday evening…

I hope she had a couple of nasty friends in the courtroom today who’ll give the scumbag a slap when he no doubt gets out on bail.

It’s probably the victim’s fault for flaunting their car at the oppressed individual.

What a silly thing to say. She did everything right to save her and her kids from coming to some harm.

I think your sarcasm detector needs adjustment.

Tick! 🙂

Did he have a weapon? Or was it through the sheer power of suggestion?

Who cares? One woman and two kids isn’t exactly the SAS.

What a dirty scumbag, ripping a car off a mum and kids. I hope he goes into the clink.

Two children present. A threat to wring their throat would have been enough.

In fact if low life crims catches on to it then parents with young children will become high on the hit list.

It’s probably the victim’s fault for flaunting their car at the oppressed individual. Give him some public housing and his own car please, Mr Justice. That’ll fix it! hahaha!
