Alleged teen thieves stole several cars, tried to break into homes, police say

Four teenage boys have been charged after allegedly stealing several vehicles and attempting to break into homes in recent weeks.

An ACT Policing spokesperson alleged that on 28 September, four teenagers drove a stolen Audi sedan to Denman Prospect.

They then allegedly attempted to enter two homes but fled the scene without gaining entry.

Early the following morning, the boys then allegedly drove the Audi to a Yarralumla address and stole a grey Aston Martin, a silver Bentley and a grey Porsche from the home, abandoning the Audi in Weston.

Later, the three cars were allegedly captured on CCTV cameras at a petrol station in Holt where the group filled up two vehicles and left without paying.

At about 7:50 am, officers carrying out mobile patrols in Belconnen say they saw the Aston Martin and Porsche on Southern Cross Drive.

Police attempted to pull the vehicles over, but the drivers allegedly refused to comply with directions, driving on the wrong side of the road and using excessive speed to evade police.

The vehicles were recovered the next day after allegedly being abandoned in Macquarie, Macgregor and Nicholls.

The police spokesperson also said they believe the group is responsible for the alleged theft of two other vehicles – a black Audi SQ5 (ACT registration YPJ 66H) stolen from Red Hill on 3 October and a black BMW X2 (NSW registration EYF 90F) that was stolen from Sydney on 8 October.

These have yet to be found by the police. The spokesperson believes they may be parked in suburban streets.

Following an investigation, police carried out a search warrant at a Macquarie address on 3 October and arrested two boys allegedly involved in the burglary.

The remaining two boys were arrested at the same address on Thursday morning (10 October) over their alleged involvement.

All four teenagers have been charged with several offences, including driving a motor vehicle without consent, aggravated burglary, and unlawful possession of stolen property. All four were on bail at the time of the alleged offences.

Two of the boys faced the ACT Children’s Court last Friday (4 October), while the other two faced court on Thursday (10 October).
