If you’re a busy parent of young children, chances are you have a pretty good idea of what you’d like in a dream home. And it’s probably safe to assume that your features list includes modern design, proximity to local schools, room to entertain and a big backyard with a cubby house.

Does that sound about right? If so, you could be moving into your dream home as early as this year. 30 Poynton Street in Hughes goes to auction at the end of November, and it has just about everything a young family could want in a home.

There are the basic family must-haves: four bedrooms, three bathrooms and plenty of living space. Then there are the nice-to-haves: a large deck for entertaining, a jacuzzi, three car spaces, lots of natural light, established gardens and wide oak timber floors.

But as Belle Properties Kingston’s Dan McAlpine explains, this property also offers a lot more for the right buyer. For starters, the house has been renovated from top to bottom, making for very low maintenance living.

The bathrooms have been completely renovated with modern and luxurious finishings.

The bathrooms, for example, have been updated with dramatic marble herringbone tiles and a free-standing bath. Similarly, the kitchen boasts modern touches like a large breakfast bar, stone bench tops and a butler’s pantry.

With a spacious kitchen and living areas, plus a large deck, 30 Poynton Street has plenty of space for entertaining – both inside and out.

“This home has been completely renovated throughout. There’s only about a metre of existing wall from the previous home that was there,” Dan says.

“Most of the time when you buy a renovated property it’s been softly renovated. The owners may have only done up the kitchen or the bathroom. This property has been entirely rebuilt and is an as-new home. A busy family can move in, unpack and enjoy their new home straight away.”

What’s more, with local amenities close by, jobs like ducking out for milk and picking the kids up from school are easy.

“Young families have been the vast majority of people through the home, and that’s no surprise because of the family-friendly layout, and the fact that you can walk out the back fence straight to Sts Peter and Paul Primary School,” Dan says.

“It’s also an easy walk to Hughes Primary School and the local shops without having to cross a major road. From that perspective, it’s really appealing.”

Large deck? Check. Jacuzzi? Check. Cubby house? Check.

Dan says that his favourite feature of the home is the back deck, which is the perfect place to unwind after a busy day.

“From the deck, you can see inside into the family room, but also over to the spa and the cubby house. It’s a great place to sit and enjoy a nice beverage and watch the kids play.”
