Farmers Markets extending their opening hours

johnboy 28 August 2012 46

The EPIC Farmers Markets are a religion to many of you. So it’s of vital importance to those people that the opening hours are being extended.

So if you want to get in first for the good stuff it’s now a 7:30am start.

Canberra’s popular Saturday morning market, the Capital Region Farmers Market at Exhibition Park in Canberra (EPIC), has responded to customer demand and increased their opening hours to allow even more Canberrans to enjoy the region’s freshest produce.

The new opening hours of 7:30am to 12:00pm come into effect on Saturday 1 September 2012. With the previous trading hours being 8:00am to 11:00am, this is an increase of 1.5 hours every week.

“A recent customer survey revealed an increasing demand for extended opening hours,” said Farmers Market spokesperson, Tony Howard.

No need to cause yourself an injera. That would be a real pita.

No need to immolate just help yourself to some humble pie!

Also, I welcome the extended hours.

That just about sums it up. I don’t buy my produce at woollies. But neither do I feel it necessary to bash my way through the scrum of the farmers market.

It’s the very yeast I could do.

Now I want to stop, but I can’t. It’s like being caught in a brioche in the space-time continuum.

You got a rise out of some people, but it it’s probably best you leaven it alone before things turn sourdough.

You’re all crackers. I am amaized at the half-baked, stale and crumby puns being cooked up here. Have naan of you any shame? Its just pita-ful.

Now stop loaf’en around – you matzo get back to earning a crust.

Just trying to raise the panettone around here. With some kulcha.

Just when i thought we had exhausted all the puns and the post had gone flat we have more pretzel logic and i need me some crumpet coz i’m such a gluten!

It’s an unwafering commitment to sesame seed puns. Glad to see you using your scone.

I want to join-in, but I think i’m too baked to keep up.

I did their survey and I specifically asked for later opening hours, not earlier, this just makes it even worse for night people.

I guess if they keep making the opening hours earlier it’ll eventually creep back into my waking hours, and give the late night drunkards a healthier option

I was interested to see what the difference in hours would do to the markets and was happy to see that there was no difference at all. A few grumbling stall holders who claimed there was no consultation from the organisers regarding the new hours that 10% of customers surveyed asked for. Everything good sold out by 9am and then when i dropped back past after the sports drop off, around 11.15, a whole stack of bored farmers standing around chatting while they waited to be let out. There were very few customers actually buying anything but that could have something to do with the quality of product still available.
The general consensus seemed to be that the stallholders with the good product don’t need and don’t really want the extra hours as they sell out anyway. Buyt i guess it gives all the other guys a chance to sell to the late comers. i here Woolworths is open till midnight if you want wholesale markets veg later in the day.
I suggest getting there early, especially as the weather starts to warm up.

This is becoming a *pain*.

Well with that level of research no one could accuse you of going off half baked.

Kneady, are we?

Dough you ever stop?

Stop being Crumbs people.

If you don’t join in, I’ll spread some rumours. Then you’ll be in a jam.

Butter stop this, ’cause this bread is starting to ferment. I’m leaven.

It’s how I roll.

Rye smiles, all round.

That penis butter has got me into a real jam now that she’s got a bun in the oven.

Stop it, stop it, stop this madness, for the love of God, I’m begging you

There’s always someone who has to put a damper on proceedings.

O lord forgive him for he has not had his daily bread.

None taken. Didn’t realise I’d said that I didn’t like my job (I love it) or that I didn’t want to do my hours. Thought I had just made a humorous remark about it being bad for my health and then gotten slapped around the head with a wet fish.

Well, I don’t know about all the nuttiness that preceded it, but I love the rye bread with caraway seeds. Caraway seeds + rye = awesome awesome awesome, and it makes me very happy that I can get a locally-baked bread like it.
