Fire breaks out at Canberra Reptile Zoo

A fire has broken out at Canberra Reptile Zoo on Monday morning (2 September) with one staff member taken to hospital for smoke inhalation.

Around 8:24 am, emergency services were called to a small structure fire at Canberra Reptile Zoo on O’Hanlon Place, Nicholls.

Firefighters have extinguished the fire and are currently investigating the cause. Canberra Reptile Zoo believes the fire started in the goanna bedding area and the fire was restricted to outside the building.

Paramedics treated one person for smoke inhalation at the scene and transported them to hospital in a stable condition.

Canberra Reptile Zoo posted on Facebook saying all animals are alive and well.
