ACT Policing has arrested and charged a 50 year-old man following the execution of a number of Drugs of Dependence Act search warrants yesterday afternoon (Friday, April 26).
At approximately 2.15pm police intercepted a vehicle on Coppins Crossing bridge in the ACT. A search was undertaken and police located and seized a small amount of heroin along with approximately $6500 cash.
Later that afternoon members of ACT Policing’s Criminal Investigations team executed a further search warrant on a house in Flynn at around 5.15pm. A search of the premises located a quantity of heroin along with approximately $30 000 cash. A the completion of the search warrant a 50 year-old-man was taken into custody.
Police also executed another two search warrants on premises in Dunlop and Florey where other evidentiary material was seized.
Police estimate that the heroin seized during the search warrants has a potential street value of approximately $80 000.
The alleged offender was conveyed to the ACT Watch House and charged with drug trafficking. He will face the ACT Magistrates Court today where police will be opposing bail.
