A 57-year-old woman will face the ACT Magistrates Court today (Tuesday, 24 July 2018) and sex industry businesses have been shut down after multi-agency raids on escort agencies in Fyshwick.

ACT Policing said that police and other agencies including Worksafe ACT inspectors executed multiple simultaneous search warrants on Monday at escort agencies and associated private premises with links to those escort agencies, after receiving information from the public.

Police arrested one woman and five women were detained for immigration offences. Two premises containing five sex industry businesses were forced to cease trading after Worksafe ACT issued prohibition notices.

The woman has been charged with three counts of allowing unlawful non-citizens to work and two counts of allowing a non-citizen to work in breach of visa.

Police are urging anyone who may have any information that could assist police to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000, or via the Crime Stoppers ACT website.
