I have a dilemma. My favourite pair of leather boots have started to peel up from the sole.
I’m not sure where to entrust said leather boots to get fixed.
Has anyone used those Mister Minit type places? Are there speciality shoe fixers around town?
How much do these things tend to cost?
can’t beat Joes Boots in Kingston.
I agree, Joes Boots. Also had a pair of work shoes done at the key cutting place next to Westpac in Woden Westfields and they did a very good job for the price. But if these boots are ‘special’ to you then head to Joes at Kingston.
I’ve always found Jhay in Dickson really good but he can be a bit slow because he’s always so busy.
redpath’s? in the city. jhay in dickson also seems good [has done some keys], but haven’t had soles done so can’t recommend from experience…
If they are RM’s send them back to the factory for new soles. I’ve never found a boot repairer in Canb that stiches the sole like they do.
I’ll +1 the Baileys arcade dude. Not only did they resole some of my fave heels, but I wore down the heel itself. They built them up using resin and the repair is not even noticeable. Brilliant job.

+1. I always go there. Shoemaker can do alterations on shoes too… he used to be able to make shoes on request but I am not sure they still do that (and Manuka Cobbler in Fyshwick is there for bespoke/custom shoes anyway).

Second these guys. They’ve fixed a number of my boots over the years.
Nice old guy near where Electric Shadows used to be in civic. Great job everytime.
+1 Jhay is the man
There is a shoe repairer in Baileys Arcade. I had a pair of boots resoled there last winter for around $45. They did a great job.
Joes Boots in Kingston.
The Mister Minit guys don’t know what they are doing and have ruined two pairs of shoes I put in together a few years ago.
There is a bloke called Jhay at Dickson shops who has done about three pairs of shoes resoling with leather. From memory its about $100 for a leather sole with a rubber protecter over the top
