The ACT Rural Fire Service will today, Monday 10 June, 2013, weather permitting conduct a hazard reduction burn at Giralang.

The burn will commence at 11.00am, near the intersection of the Barton Highway and William Slim Drive, Giralang.

One heavy tanker, one medium tanker, one command vehicle and nine personnel will conduct the burn, which will be approximately five hectares in size.

The ACT Handy Map grid reference for the burn will be K10.

Temporary smoke cover may occur. Every effort is made to conduct the burn in weather conditions that will minimise the impact of smoke in the area.

The Health Directorate advises that people with asthma, other chronic respiratory and/or chronic cardiac diseases should not perform vigorous exercise and should stay inside if affected by the smoke. People with asthma in particular should continue their medication and consult their general practitioner if they have any difficulties.
