Great win by the Brumbies

junkett 4 March 2008 7

Now it might be one of the few wins this year (in a “rebuilding” phase I believe they call it) but the ACT Brumbies win over the Reds on Saturday was outstanding.
Free flowing, balls to the wall with so many injuries, exhilarating stuff.
The cameo by Morts gave a snigger too.

Loved it.

[Ed. Rugbyheaven have this coverage of the game in which Julian Huxley was knocked out after two minutes. Another great writeup can be found on the Brumbies website where due praised is passed to the young players who stepped up for such an inspired win.]

All credit to the opposition but our boys dug in and played tough whilst giving 100% for the full 80 minutes.

And we out cliched them in the post match interviews.

Nah, seriously, good effort. Let’s hope it’s a sign of things to come.

All congratulations to the boys for the spectacular win, but the news about Huxley is really shocking.

We were all very concerned when he was convulsing on the ground (although we couldn’t see what had happened in the tackle to cause it). Then the news on Monday it was just a case of concussion. Now we find out there’s a tumour….

As long as they can keep whipping the Waratahs, then I’m happy. 🙂

A couple of weeks back. 🙂

Point is, as hopeless as the Reds are…they were still expected to give the young Brumbies a hiding.

Can the Brumbies perform as well against stronger teams? That remains to be seen.

It was only against Queensland, so what do you expect?

When was the last time the Reds were a team to be taken seriously?

It was indeed a fantastic win. Some good signs for future years with the young players putting in great games. Even this season may not be the write-off that was anticpated by many.
