The ACT Greens have announced that they’re launching their push for the balance of power with a campaign launch at the Street Theatre tomorrow night (6pm).
Tickets are an eyebrow raising $35 (fund-raising too). But for that $35 not only do you get all the warm fuzzies that come from supporting the Greens, you also get a Fred Smith concert.
Fred Smith is an internationally renowned singer/songwriter who has been called ‘Australia’s answer to Billy Bragg’ and described as ‘Loudon Wainwright meets Noel Coward’.
He is also the subject of a documentary film Bougainville Sky about his involvement in peace-keeping operations in the war-torn islands of the South Pacific where his work as a musician and radio broadcaster contributed to the success of the world’s first ever unarmed peace-keeping force.
Personally I’d pay $35 to see Fred perform regardless of the politics of the event.
Tickets at the door, or book on 6247 6305.
(You can cop a listen to Fred from his website)
