This just in:

Monnone Alone depart their insular Melbourne comfort zone to make the return trek to their favourite bookshop in their favourite national capital. Joining them will be likeminded local bookish snobs Waterford and Mikey Shanhan, partaking in a night of pop songs and other misdemeanours.

Since the break-up of The Lucksmiths in 2009, Mark Monnone has played bass on albums for Sally Seltmann, Geoffrey O’Connor and Still Flyin’ and has now stepped out on his own, armed with a jangling, chiming guitar and a sto…ckpile of straight shooting pop tunes.

The debut Monnone Alone album ‘Together At Last’ will be out on Lost And Lonesome as of late-May 2013. Recorded in Brooklyn, the album finds Monnone in collaboration with members of Architecture in Helsinki, Your Wedding Night, Crystal Stilts, The Ladybug Transistor and The Clean.

The live Monnone Alone line-up meanwhile is an enviable power-trio featuring the talents of Gus Franklin (AiH) on drums and Joe Foley (Aleks & the Ramps) on bass.

Entry is $7. We guarantee you’ll enjoy this show.
